Where are your meta tags?!
For all the stringent, on page seo hardliners our there that believe on page optimization is the absolute key to success for a website regarding search engine rankings - I have a couple of things to share:
The #1 result in Google for “webhosting” (39 million+ results) has no meta tags in place. (www.webhosting.com)
The #5 result in Google for “dog training” (13 million+ results) has no meta tags in place.
The #3 result in Yahoo for “affiliate program” (112 million+ results) has no meta tags in place.
The #2 result in Yahoo for “car insurance” (152 million+ results) has no meta tags in place.
These are just a few examples. This post is really intended to benefit the unfortunate people who are brainwashed and spoon fed the fallacy that on page optimization alone will get you top search engine rankings for highly competitive keywords.
Of course I personally belive that on page seo methods are important, and I employ a great number of them myself on various websites of mine. I just don’t think it’s fair to the uninformed (those that pay for seo services) that they are fed the lies that on page optimization is the absolute key.
What’s your take on this?
